In 1989, after years of balancing acting and sommelier work, he returned to Orange County and shifted his focus fully to wine.

Neptune entered wine sales in the mid-1990s. After an early setback on a wine exam, he continued studying and building his credentials. He later joined the Henry Wine Group in Benicia, California, where he rose to Senior Vice President of Corporate Training.

In 2003, he founded Neptune School of Wine, which became one of Southern California’s important centers for WSET-based wine education. The school also developed regional wine-study offerings, including the French Wine Scholar program.

Master Sommelier and Industry Credentials

Peter Neptune passed the Master Sommelier exam in 2005, becoming one of the few people globally to hold that title and one of the most prominent Master Sommeliers from Southern California.
