Each year, SOMM highlights institutions that illustrate important trends in wine education. In 2025, our editorial team chose to spotlight the Wine School of Philadelphia for the distinctive path it has taken in building a long-term educational institution in the wine trade.
While many wine schools have expanded through franchising or satellite campuses, the Wine School of Philadelphia has focused on developing a permanent home in its founding city. The school recently purchased and renovated a building in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse neighborhood, creating a dedicated space for wine education in one of the city’s most prominent districts.
