About the Wine School

The Wasatch Academy of Wine is the oldest wine education company in Utah, opening in 1991. When you attend a wine education course, you get nine weeks of instruction, tutored tastings of wine, a manual, access to an online e-learning package, and an exam sit upon completion of testing. Classes are once a week for two-and-a-half hours and are typically hosted at a restaurant. The school’s mission is to provide an in-depth educational experience that is also fun.

Sheral Schowe is the founder and owner of Wasatch Academy of Wine, Utah’s first and most significant wine school, and the first female wine educator in the state. She helped define and develop wine educator licensing for the state as the first. She grew the company through word-of-mouth advertising into the successful business it is today.

The school is an affiliate provider for the Wine Scholar Guild. Sheral is also an adjunct professor of Wine Studies at the Culinary Institute of Salt Lake Community College. She has a Master’s degree in Adult Education and is a Licensed Wine Educator through the Utah Department of Alcohol Beverage Control. In addition, Sheral is a certified French and Spanish Wine Scholar with Master level certification in the areas of Provence and the Rhone.
