The Wine & Spirit Archive
Courses: In-Person Programs
Facilities: Established Campus
State Recognized: No
Type of School: Independent
Certifications Offered: Wine & Spirit Education Trust, Wine Scholar Guild

Founded in 2006, The Wine & Spirit Archive was the first provider of Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Courses in the Pacific Northwest and is Oregon’s exclusive provider of Wine Scholar Guild (WSG) Courses. These world-renowned training programs offer an in-depth and rigorous study of wine for serious wine students and professionals seeking to advance their careers and knowledge.

Mimi Martin started the Portland-based business school after attending New York University for food studies. The school offers programs in three locations: its Portland offices, South Seattle College, and the Walter Clore Wine & Culinary Center in Prosser, WA.

Along with wine trade certification, they also offer wine-tasting classes open to the public.

Accreditation

The Oregon Department of Education approves and licenses for-profit/proprietary vocational-technical schools. The Wine & Spirit Archive is not currently listed in their database. This is typical for WSET schools, which tend to skirt state laws.

Engaging wine classes that balance academic depth with a relaxed, Portland vibe. It’s a great place to build serious wine knowledge without the pretense.

Best wine-think in Portland. I dont find portland much of a wine town, but this is an oasis!
