Their site states: “the organization serves as a forum where all wine lovers may gather to speak as equals.” Sounds like a wine club to me more than a established platform for Sommeliers and Hospitality professionals. Their website is all about the founder and they are not based in a relevant wine region or gastronomical […]

Great location for a real immersive wine tasting class. The fact that is located in San Francisco, adds to the quality of the program. SF is the Gateway to the top California wine regions, that allows a better comprehensive and holistic wine education. Unfortunately, this Wine School is not listed in the California’s Bureau’s database […]

Their site notes that their Wine School focuses on the practical aspects of enjoying wine, with that being said, it seems that they do not have a holistic approach to wine education from a global perspective.

It seems that their programs lack creativity, dynamism and diversity. Perhaps not a hands on course that fosters wine education if you are looking to challenge yourself. Expensive programs with limited curriculum

It seems that they only develop testing protocols for the wine trade, including sommeliers. I don’t know how much passion do they have for fostering wine education. Limited options by only offering online courses. Hard to believe that they offer the highest level of sommelier certification in the United States.

It is interesting to note that it was established in 1982 in Ontario, but them move to the USA, however it seems that they no longer offer a in person Sommelier certification program. Currently this makes them less established as a creditable institution for top Sommelier education.

They are a young organization founded in 2011 with the support of the Italian Sommelier Association (ISA). Their sommelier certification was developed to promote Italian wines. It seems that they are passionate about selling Italian wines but not as devoted to foster wine education.

Impressive that they are North America’s oldest sommelier and wine education organization, however unlike other certification programs, it seems that their Certification Course is limited to wine professionals who want to study the trade in New York.

My experience with the Court of Master Sommeliers Americas was beneficial and worthwhile. The classes were practical and lively. The level of education was very professional. There is always the option to improve in regards to upgrading/adapting the locations/hotel conference rooms for their seminars.

I was fortunate enough to attend NVWA’s Harvest Bootcamp last year as part of the Level 3 certification course and I can’t say enough good things about it. Where do I start? First, the instructors were top-notch. We learned from Masters of Wine, WSET Diploma holders with industry experience and master winemakers in both video […]

The programs are well recieved and a LOT of restaurant people have these credentials. What they don’t tell you is that outside of restaurants, its not as important or respected as a wine program. I wish I new that before I started, as I dont really want to be a waiter or a restaurant sommeleir. […]

The instructors are phenomenal, making the classes interactive and laced with personal stories. I took WSET1 just for fun, passed with flying colors. Since that was way too easy, I also completed WSET2 and WSET3 (hard!). I was thirsty for more so Italian Wine Scholar and Spanish Wine Scholar followed. There are Master Classes, Guest […]

Patrick Fegan’s CWS was most excellent. His style was founded in facts and technical knowledge, but always entertaining – he knew how to liven things up and had lots of good stories. So many people get snobby about wine, but Patrick kept it level headed – he once told me that even though it could […]

I took the L1 with the National Wine School, and then took the Core Sommelier program in person in Philadelphia. I wasn’t sure it would be worth it (It was two hours one way from Maryland), but incredibly it was. Anyone who attends classes here become lifelong devotees to this school. I wish my professors […]

I had a the pleasure of earning my Level 2 with Fine Vintage. For Level 3, I opted for Napa Valley Wine Academy but only because their program was part of a Harvest Bootcamp in Napa which was an incredible learning experience that I can’t say enough good things about — check it out if […]

I could not have passed it without the class. The staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The fact that it was a harvest bootcamp made it even better. All of the “field trips” were great and the winemaker dinner was the best. Ilearned more than I ever imagined. Although there were long days you made […]
